Karlie Hughes: I made the most of my degree program by taking advantage of the resources my school had to offer. I took advantage of the school’s animation labs and software to create a demo reel that I could show to potential employers. I also took advantage of the school’s career services to help me polish my resume and prepare for interviews.
ClimbtheLadder: What should students interested in 3D Animation be good at?
Karlie Hughes: Students interested in 3D Animation should be good at problem solving, as a lot of the time you will be solving problems that have never been solved before. You should also be good at working in a team, as a lot of the time you will be working with other animators, directors, and producers to create the final product. Finally, you should be good at time management, as you will often have to work on tight deadlines.
ClimbtheLadder: What was the most challenging course you took? What advice would you give to students who are about to start this course?
Karlie Hughes: The most challenging course I took was “Intro to 3D Animation.” It was a lot of work and required a lot of time outside of class to complete assignments. My advice would be to start working on assignments as soon as they are given and to not wait until the last minute. This will help you to better understand the material and will also help you to complete the assignments in a timely manner.
