How to Write an Access Control Technician Resume

Here’s how to write an resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the first thing recruiters will read. And since they’re so important, it’s crucial that you use them to your advantage by including specific details about your experience and accomplishments.

For example, rather than saying you “provided security for event,” you could say you “provided security for presidential candidate’s campaign rally, ensuring safety of 10,000 attendees.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about the event, number of attendees, and outcome of the work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume online, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. These programs look for specific terms related to the job opening in order to determine whether or not you have the skills and experience necessary for the role. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right keywords, the ATS might automatically reject your application.

One way to make sure your resume makes it past the ATS is to include relevant keywords throughout all sections of your document. Here are some commonly used access control technician keywords:

  • Access Control
  • Security
  • Alarm Systems
  • Security Systems
  • CCTV

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As an access control technician, you need to be proficient in the use of various software programs and systems in order to do your job effectively. These might include access control software, CCTV software, and alarm systems. You should also be familiar with the various types of access control devices, such as card readers, keypads, and biometric devices.
