6. Have you ever had to respond to an emergency situation before? Tell us about it.

This question is a great way to learn more about your potential new colleague’s problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. When answering this question, it can be helpful to provide specific details about the situation and how you handled it.

Example: “When I was working as a cashier at my previous job, we had an issue with our credit card machine. This happened during one of our busiest times of day, so I immediately notified my manager. She then told me to continue ringing up customers while she fixed the problem. 7. Are you able to lift 45 pounds?

14. As a shift manager, we expect you to be able to make quick decisions under pressure. Give me an example of a time when you were faced with a tough decision and had to act quickly.

16. Give me an example of a time when you made a mistake at work. How did you deal with the consequences?
