What drew you to the field of analysis?

Example: “I have always been interested in numbers and data, so when I was looking for a major in college, I chose mathematics. What kind of data do you find most interesting to work with?

This question can help the interviewer get a sense of your interests and how they align with the job you’re applying for. It’s important to show that you are passionate about data analysis, but it’s also helpful if you have experience working with all kinds of data.

Example: “I find customer data to be most interesting because I love helping businesses understand their customers better. What was the most challenging project you’ve worked on during your career? Why was it challenging and how did you overcome those challenges?

However, when I ran the report, it only showed me the contact information of those who registered in person. It didn’t include any of the information from those who signed up online.

I knew there must be a way to get this information, so I called the company’s IT department to see if they could help me find a solution. They told me that the registration system did not have a feature that would allow them to export the online attendee information. Instead, we decided to manually enter the online attendee information into the database. This took some time, but eventually, we were able to run the report with accurate results.”

Tell me about a time when you had to work with incomplete data sets. How did you deal with that and what methods did you use in order to fill in the gaps?

Do you think that analysts will become increasingly obsolete in the next few years as artificial intelligence advances?
