In your answer, explain how critical thinking and problem solving relate to each other and what they mean for the job.

Example: “Critical thinking is a skill that helps me solve problems by analyzing information and making decisions based on my analysis. Problem-solving is when I use critical thinking to find solutions to issues or challenges. Both of these skills are essential to my role as an applied systems specialist because I need to be able to analyze data and make informed decisions about it. This allows me to create effective solutions to any problems our clients might experience.”

4. How would you manage a situation where there is conflict among members of your team?

This question can help interviewers understand how you handle interpersonal conflict and your ability to resolve it. Use examples from past experiences where you helped resolve a conflict among team members or resolved conflicts with clients.

8. Are you comfortable working in a fast-paced environment?

Example: “I am comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, as I have done so for the past five years at my current position. In fact, I enjoy it because it allows me to stay on top of deadlines and gives me the chance to develop my multitasking skills. I also find that it helps me learn new things quickly and solve problems efficiently.”

9. Describe a time when you struggled to reach a goal, what happened and what did you do to overcome the obstacles?

This question is an opportunity to show your problem-solving skills and how you can overcome challenges. When answering this question, it’s important to be honest about the obstacles you faced and how you overcame them.

Example: “I had a goal of becoming a software engineer when I was in college, but I struggled with my coding classes. I decided to take a break from school for a semester so that I could focus on learning the material. After taking some time off, I enrolled in a different program where I learned more about coding and developed my skills.”

10. What was your biggest challenge as a salesperson?

This question can help the interviewer get to know you as a person and how you’ve overcome challenges in your past. When answering this question, it can be helpful to focus on a challenge that helped you grow or develop new skills.

Example: “My biggest challenge was overcoming my fear of rejection. I had been selling for about six months when I realized I wasn’t making any sales calls because I didn’t want to hear no. At first, I found it difficult to get over the fear of rejection, however, after some time, I became much more comfortable with it and even enjoyed it.”

12. Did you ever sell something that seemed very difficult to convince people to buy? Describe the situation.

This question can help the interviewer understand your sales experience and how you overcame challenges.

Example: “I once worked for a company that sold software to businesses, but I was new to selling at the time. The business owners were hesitant to buy our product because they didn’t want to spend money on something they weren’t sure would work. I explained that we had a 30-day free trial period so they could try it out before committing to buying it. They agreed to give it a shot, and after using the software for a month, they decided to keep it.”

13. Explain a time when you dealt with an irate customer and how did you handle the situation?

An interviewer may ask this question to assess your customer service skills. This is because an insurance agent must be able to handle challenging customers and provide them with the best possible experience.

Example: “I once had a client who was very upset about his claim, which I had just approved. He called me several times in one day, demanding that I reverse my decision. I remained calm and explained to him why I could not do so. Eventually, he understood and apologized for being rude.”

14. Have you worked with any software development methodologies before?

This question is a great way to show your knowledge of software development and how you can apply it to the role. If you have experience with any methodologies, be sure to mention them in your answer.

15. Which programming languages have you worked with?

16. What are some of the qualities that you think a successful data analyst should have?

This question can help the interviewer get to know you as a person and see if your personality is a good fit for their company. Use this opportunity to share some of your personal qualities that make you successful in your career, such as attention to detail, problem-solving skills or communication skills.

Example: “I think one of the most important qualities of a successful data analyst is curiosity. I am always looking for new ways to solve problems and improve processes. Another quality I have is my ability to work independently. I enjoy being able to research and analyze information without having to rely on others.”

17. Do you enjoy helping others solve problems?

This question can help the interviewer determine if you have a passion for helping others and whether you would enjoy working in an insurance environment. Showcase your problem-solving skills, communication abilities and empathy by explaining how you helped someone solve a problem in the past.

Example: “I love helping people find solutions to their problems. In my last role as a customer service representative, I had a client who was having trouble with his website. He called me because he couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t loading properly. After asking him some questions about what he was experiencing, I figured out that he needed to update his software. 20. Do you have experience operating a help desk?

Help desks are a common feature of many IT departments, and the interviewer may want to know if you have experience with this type of work.
