AppLovin Interview Process

The interview process at AppLovin can vary depending on the position you are applying for. However, most positions will require at least one phone screen with a recruiter, followed by one or more interviews with members of the team. For some positions, you may also be asked to complete a test task or case study. Overall, the interview process is generally positive, but some candidates have found it to be frustrating due to lack of communication from the company.

1. What is your favorite programming language and why?

This question is a great way to see if you are familiar with the company’s products and services. If you have experience using AppLovin, it can be beneficial to mention this in your answer.

Example: “My favorite programming language is Java because I find it easy to use and understand. It also has many resources available online that make learning it much easier than other languages. In my last role as an app developer, I used Java for all of my projects. This helped me become more comfortable with the language and learn new things about it.”

2. How would you approach a project that requires working with multiple teams?

This question can help the interviewer understand how you collaborate with others and your ability to work in a team setting. Use examples from previous projects or experiences that highlight your teamwork skills, communication abilities and problem-solving skills.

Example: “I have worked on multiple teams before, so I am familiar with the importance of collaboration. In my last role as an app developer for XYZ Company, I was working on a project where we had to integrate our code with another company’s code. We were all new to each other, but I helped facilitate communication between the two companies by creating a shared document where everyone could post questions and comments about their progress. This allowed us to learn more about each other and develop a better understanding of what we needed to do.”

3. You are designing an app for a large company, what do you think the biggest challenges will be?

This question is a great way to see how the candidate thinks about their work. It also gives you insight into what they have done in the past and what challenges they faced.

Example: “The biggest challenge I would face when designing an app for a large company would be making sure that it was easy enough for users to navigate, but also had features that were useful for the business. For example, if I was working with a retail store, I would want to make sure that the app included all of the information customers needed, like product descriptions and reviews. However, I would also need to make sure that the app didn’t distract from sales by having too many bells and whistles.”

4. Tell me about a time where you needed to learn something new in order to complete a task.

This question can help the interviewer understand your ability to learn new things and adapt to different situations. Use examples from previous jobs or experiences where you needed to learn something quickly in order to complete a task, but also highlight how you were able to do so successfully.

Example: “In my last job as an app developer, I was tasked with creating a new feature for one of our apps that would allow users to share their progress on certain tasks within the app. At first, I wasn’t sure how to implement this feature, but after speaking with my manager, we decided it would be best if I learned how to use a third-party platform to create social media sharing features. After spending some time learning how to use the platform, I was able to successfully integrate the sharing feature into the app.”

5. Are you comfortable speaking in front of groups of people?

This question is a way for the interviewer to assess your public speaking skills. If you have experience presenting in front of groups, share that information with the interviewer. If you don’t have any experience, explain how comfortable you are speaking in front of others and what types of presentations you’ve given in the past.

Example: “I have presented at several conferences over the last few years. I find it very rewarding to be able to educate other people on new technologies or strategies. I am always prepared when I present, so I rarely get nervous. I think my ability to speak confidently in front of large crowds has helped me become successful as an app developer.”

6. Describe a time when you had to work on a team project with someone who was not pulling their weight, how did you handle it?

AppLovin is a company that values teamwork and collaboration. Your answer to this question will show the interviewer how you handle conflict in the workplace.

Example: “In my last job, I was working on a team project with two other developers. One of them was not contributing much to the project, but he would always be the first one to speak up when we presented our work to the client. This made it difficult for me and the other developer who were doing all the work. We talked about it as a group and decided to present only the work we had done. The non-contributing developer understood why we did this and started putting more effort into his work.”

Using machine learning, I created a program that analyzed the user’s behavior and allowed them to search for apps based on what they had previously downloaded or viewed. This saved time for the user and increased revenue for the company.”
