How to Write an Architectural Technologist Resume

Here’s how to write an architectural technologist resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the first thing recruiters will see. And since they’re so important, it’s crucial that you use them to your advantage.

The best way to do that is to use them to demonstrate your experience and skills. So rather than saying you “managed projects,” you could say that you “managed 15 projects with budgets totaling $2 million, resulting in zero budget overruns and on-time completion of all projects.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about the project, the outcome, and your role in the project.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a job as an architectural technologist, your resume is likely to be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. This software looks for specific terms related to the job, like “3D modeling” or “CADD” in order to determine whether your skills are a match for the role. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right terms, the ATS might discard your application before a human ever sees it.

To increase your chances of getting noticed, use this list of keywords as a starting point to help you brainstorm:

  • AutoCAD
  • Architectural Drawings
  • Architectural Design
  • Revit
  • SketchUp
  • Architecture
  • Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
  • Architectural Technology
  • Interior Design
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Construction
  • AutoCAD Architecture
  • Rendering
  • Design Research
  • Interior Architecture
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Sustainable Design
  • Construction Drawings
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Space Planning
  • Submittals
  • Project Planning
  • Construction Management
  • Construction Drawings
  • Vectorworks
  • SketchUp for Architecture
  • Revit Architecture
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Vectorworks for Architecture
  • Project Management

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As an architectural technologist, you need to be proficient in a variety of software programs in order to do your job effectively. This might include programs like AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp. You also need to be familiar with building codes and regulations, as well as construction methods and materials.

Including your technical skills on your resume will show potential employers that you have the necessary skills and knowledge to do the job.
