I am very good at communicating with others and helping them understand our patients’ needs.”

2. Tell me about a time you had to improve the productivity of a team, how did you do it?

This question is a great way to show your leadership skills and how you can help others succeed. When answering this question, it’s important to highlight the steps you took to improve productivity and what results you achieved.

Example: “In my last role as an occupational therapist, I was responsible for managing a team of five physical therapists. One day, one of our employees called out sick, leaving us with only four therapists on staff. This meant we had to cancel all appointments that day. I immediately contacted other local facilities to see if they could provide coverage. Luckily, another facility agreed to send two additional therapists to cover our patients. We were able to reschedule all missed appointments later in the week.”

3. How would you handle an employee that wasn’t meeting expectations?

This question can help the interviewer understand how you handle challenges in the workplace. Use your answer to highlight your problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with others.

Example: “If I had an employee that wasn’t meeting expectations, I would first try to meet with them one-on-one to discuss their performance. If they were having trouble performing a specific task or following company policies, I would provide additional training or resources to help them improve. If they weren’t improving after our initial conversation, I would have another discussion with them about their performance and give them a warning. If they still didn’t improve, I would terminate their employment.”

4. Have you worked on any projects involving safety procedures?

When working in a healthcare setting, it’s important to follow all safety procedures. Employers ask this question to make sure you understand the importance of following these protocols and can do so effectively. In your answer, explain that you have worked on projects involving safety before. Explain what steps you took to ensure everyone was safe while also completing the project.

Example: “In my last role as an occupational therapist, I helped create new safety guidelines for our facility. We had some employees who were unsure about how to perform their jobs safely, so we created a list of best practices for each job title. This allowed us to train our staff members on the proper way to complete their tasks without putting themselves or others at risk.”

5. Describe a time where you were able to work independently and what made you successful.

This question is designed to assess your ability to work independently and how you can apply it to the role. When answering this question, make sure to highlight your skills in time management and organization.

Example: “I was working as a physical therapist at a hospital when I had to take on more patients than usual due to an illness of one of my colleagues. This meant that I would have to work longer hours than normal, but I knew that I could handle it because I am very organized and efficient with my time. I made sure to plan out each day so that I could get all of my tasks done without sacrificing quality care for my patients.”

6. Do you have any experience managing teams of maintenance technicians?

This question can help the interviewer determine if you have any experience managing a team of employees. If you do, they may ask you more questions about your leadership style and how you managed your team to achieve goals. If you don’t have direct management experience, you can talk about other experiences where you’ve helped lead teams or projects.

Example: “In my previous role as an orthopedic surgeon, I was responsible for leading a team of surgeons, nurses and technicians who worked together to provide care to patients. We had weekly meetings where we discussed patient progress and ways we could improve our workflows. This allowed us to develop new procedures that improved efficiency and reduced errors.”

7. Describe a time when you exceeded company standards for productivity.

When answering this question, it can be helpful to provide an example of a time you were able to complete tasks ahead of schedule or exceeded the number of patients you saw in a day. This can show your interviewer that you are motivated and driven to succeed.

Example: “In my last position as an orthopedic physical therapist, I was responsible for seeing five patients per hour during my workday. One week, I had a particularly busy day where I saw six patients per hour. While I typically only see one patient with a broken leg at any given time, on this particular day, I had two patients with broken legs. I was able to meet company standards while still providing quality care.”

8. Why do you want to work at ATI Physical Therapy?

The interviewer may ask this question to learn more about your analytical skills and how you use data to make decisions. Use examples from previous work experiences where you used data analysis tools or statistical software to help solve a problem, improve processes or achieve goals.

Example: “I have experience using several different types of data analysis software in my current role as an orthopedic physical therapist assistant. I regularly use the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program to analyze patient progress reports and other documents that contain numerical information. I also use the Microsoft Access database management system to organize and store important patient records.”

11. Can you describe some of the processes involved in manufacturing products?

This question is designed to assess your knowledge of the manufacturing industry and how it works. It also helps employers determine if you have any experience with similar processes in the past. When answering this question, try to describe a specific process that you’ve used before or one that you’re familiar with.

Example: “In my previous position as an industrial engineer, I was responsible for overseeing production lines at several different factories. One of my main responsibilities was ensuring that all employees were following safety protocols while working on the production line. Another responsibility was making sure that each product being produced met quality standards.”

12. If hired, what skills would you bring to our team?

This question is an opportunity to show the interviewer that you have researched their company and understand what they’re looking for in a candidate. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention skills or experiences that are listed on the job description.

Example: “I would bring my extensive knowledge of orthopedic rehabilitation techniques as well as my ability to work with patients of all ages and backgrounds. I’m also highly organized and detail-oriented, which helps me stay focused on providing excellent patient care.”

13. Can you tell me about a time when you failed at something and how you handled it?

Interviewers ask this question to see how you respond to failure and learn about your ability to overcome challenges. When answering, it can be helpful to focus on a specific situation or time when you failed at something but learned from the experience.

Example: “When I first started working as an orthopedic physical therapist assistant, I was nervous about making mistakes in front of my colleagues. However, after a few weeks, I realized that everyone makes mistakes and there is no reason to be afraid of them. Now, if I make a mistake, I try to correct it immediately and apologize to anyone who may have been affected by it.”

14. What are some ideas you have for increasing production efficiency?

This question can help the interviewer determine your ability to work as part of a team and how you might contribute to the overall success of the practice. Use examples from previous experience or discuss strategies that you would use if you were hired for this role.

Example: “I have worked in outpatient orthopedic private practices before, so I know that efficiency is important when it comes to maximizing patient care while also maintaining profitability. One way I’ve helped increase production efficiency at my past job was by implementing an electronic medical record system. This allowed me to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time with patients.”

15. General Motors is a company that emphasizes innovation. What do you think is the most important thing to remember when trying to be innovative?

General Motors is a company that values innovation, and they want to know what you think about it. They are looking for someone who can help them stay innovative in the future. In your answer, explain how you would approach being innovative at General Motors.

Example: “I believe the most important thing when trying to be innovative is to remember that there’s no one right way to do things. There are many different ways to solve problems, so I always try to look at situations from multiple angles. This helps me come up with new ideas and solutions.”

16. What is your experience with designing and testing mechanical components?

This question can help the interviewer understand your mechanical and engineering skills. If you have experience with designing or testing mechanical components, describe that in your answer.

Example: “I worked as a mechanical engineer for five years before I decided to pursue physical therapy. During my time as an engineer, I designed and tested many different types of mechanical components. This helped me develop my problem-solving and critical thinking skills. I also learned how to work well under pressure when working on tight deadlines.”

17. Give an example of a time when you had to solve a problem that was not straightforward. How did you approach the problem?

This question can help the interviewer understand how you approach challenges and solve problems. Use your answer to highlight your critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities and ability to adapt to new situations.

Example: “When I was working as a physical therapist at a hospital, I had a patient who was recovering from knee surgery. The patient was doing well in therapy until one day when they were unable to walk without assistance. When I asked them what happened, they said that their knee felt weak and unstable. After examining the patient, I realized that they had developed an adhesion between the patella tendon and quadriceps muscle. This made it difficult for the patient to move their leg properly.

I knew that if we didn’t address this issue immediately, it could lead to further complications. So, I spoke with my team about the situation and together, we decided to perform another round of physical therapy on the patient’s knee. We focused on strengthening the muscles around the knee so that the adhesion would eventually break apart.”

18. Can you tell me about a time when you were working on a team project and there was conflict, how did you handle it?

This question is a great way to see how you work with others and your ability to resolve conflict. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention the steps you took to resolve the conflict and what you learned from the experience.

Example: “In my last position as an orthopedic physical therapist assistant, I was working on a team project with two other assistants. We were all responsible for different parts of the project, but we had to collaborate together to complete our assignments. One day, one of the assistants didn’t show up to work, so I ended up having to do their part of the assignment too. It was challenging to get everything done in time, but I worked with the other assistant to make sure that both projects were completed.”

19. What is your experience with designing and releasing software?

This question is a great way to determine the applicant’s experience with software development and testing. It also allows you to see how they might fit into your team of developers, testers and project managers.

Example: “I have extensive experience in developing and releasing software. I’ve worked on several projects where we had to release new versions of our software or update existing ones. In one instance, we were working on an app that was supposed to help patients track their progress during physical therapy exercises. We released two updates before it was ready for market.”

20. Provide an example of a software development project you have worked on.

The interviewer may ask this question to learn more about your technical skills and how you apply them in the workplace. When answering, consider describing a project that was challenging or unique.

Example: “In my last position as an IT specialist for a large corporation, I worked on several projects at once. One of these projects involved creating a new database system for our company’s HR department. This project required me to work with other IT specialists to create a user-friendly interface for employees who would use it regularly. We also had to ensure that the database could integrate with existing systems within the company.”
