How to Write an AutoCAD Designer Resume

Here’s how to write an autocad designer resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. And the best way to do that is by using specific examples and numbers.

For example, rather than saying you “worked on projects,” you could say that you “worked on 10+ projects for major construction firm, including new corporate headquarters, luxury apartment complex, and mixed-use development.”

The second bullet point is much more specific and provides a clear sense of the scale of the project. It also provides a number—10+—which helps quantify the level of involvement.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for an autocad designer role, your resume is likely to go through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This software looks for certain keywords related to the job in order to determine whether your experience is a match. If your resume doesn’t have enough of the right terms, the ATS might not submit it to the hiring manager.

The best way to make sure your resume contains the right keywords is to read through job postings and take note of the terms that are used most often. Then, try to use those same words throughout your application. Here are some common autocad designer keywords:

  • AutoCAD
  • Autodesk Products
  • Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
  • Design
  • Architectural Design
  • SketchUp
  • Construction
  • Engineering
  • Construction Management
  • Revit
  • Architectural Drawings
  • Interior Design
  • Land Surveying
  • Manufacturing
  • Project Planning
  • Product Design
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • AutoCAD Architecture
  • 3D Modeling
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • SolidWorks
  • Construction Drawings
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Landscaping
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Software
  • Microsoft Access
  • Sketching

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As an Autocad Designer, you will need to be proficient in the Autocad software in order to create 2D and 3D drawings. You will also need to be familiar with other design software programs, such as Revit, 3ds Max, and SketchUp. In addition, you should have experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software, as this is becoming increasingly common in the design industry.
