How to Write a BIM Coordinator Resume

Here’s how to write a bim coordinator resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the first thing recruiters and hiring managers will read. And they’re the best way to showcase your experience and skills.

So it’s important to use them to their full potential. And that means using them to describe your responsibilities and achievements. So rather than saying you “managed project schedules,” you could say you “managed 15+ project schedules for $10M+ construction projects, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.”

The second bullet point is much more specific and provides more detail about what exactly you did and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume for a BIM coordinator role, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. ATS programs look for keywords related to the job, like “construction” or “design.” If your resume doesn’t have enough of the right terms, the ATS might not pass it on to a recruiter.

To increase your chances of getting an interview, use this list of common BIM coordinator keywords as a starting point and then add in other relevant terms.

  • BIM
  • Autodesk BIM 360
  • Revit
  • BIM Management
  • BIM Coordination
  • BIM Project Delivery
  • BIM Software
  • BIM Implementation
  • Construction
  • Civil Engineering
  • Construction Management
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Coordinate Measurement
  • Project Coordination
  • Revit Architecture
  • AutoCAD
  • Geography Information Systems (GIS)
  • Quantity Surveying
  • MicroStation
  • Design Management
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) Standards
  • Quantity Takeoff
  • Construction Estimating
  • 3D Modelling
  • Autodesk Revit Architecture
  • Microsoft Access
  • IT Service Management
  • Microsoft Project
  • ITIL
  • Lean Construction

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a BIM coordinator, you will need to be proficient in a variety of software programs in order to create and manage the building information models (BIMs) used in construction projects. Some of the most commonly used BIM software programs include Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks, and Bentley Systems MicroStation.

In addition to being proficient in BIM software, you will also need to have a solid understanding of construction methods and processes. This will allow you to effectively coordinate with the other members of the construction team and ensure that the BIM model is being used correctly.
