Budtending is a fast-growing industry, and if you’re passionate about cannabis, it could be just the right fit for you.
As a budtender, you’ll be tasked with helping customers choose the right products for their needs. You’ll educate them on different strains and their effects, recommend edibles or topicals based on their preferences, and answer any questions they might have about your dispensary or the industry in general.
To land your dream job as a budtender, you’ll need a resume that highlights your knowledge of cannabis products as well as your customer service skills. Follow these tips and resume example to write a compelling budtender resume that will get you noticed by recruiters.
Here’s how to write a resume of your own.
The best bullet points are the ones that are the most specific. Rather than saying you “provided customer service,” you could say that you “provided customer service by answering questions about products, suggesting new products based on customer preferences, and making sure all customers left satisfied.”
The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about what you did and the results of your work. It also includes an example of how you helped a customer—which is always a good thing to include in your bullet points if it’s relevant to the job you’re applying for.
When you submit your resume for a budtender role, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. ATS programs rank resumes based on the number of relevant keywords that are found throughout the document. If your resume doesn’t have enough of the right keywords, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.
To increase your chances of getting an interview, make sure to include relevant keywords throughout all sections of your resume. Here are some commonly used keywords for budtender positions:
Budtenders need to be proficient in a variety of software programs in order to do their jobs effectively. This might include familiarity with point-of-sale systems, customer management software, and inventory management systems. Additionally, budtenders need to be able to use technology to communicate with other members of the dispensary team, including managers and growers.
Some of the programs and systems that budtenders are typically expected to be proficient in include: Green Bits, Flowhub, and Baker. Budtenders also need to be familiar with cannabis strains and products, and how they are used.
