I participated in an internship program through my school which allowed me to gain real-world experience in the field. I also took advantage of the career services offered by my school and attended job fairs and networking events. These experiences helped me to land my current job at J.P. Morgan.

Jaidyn Castro: In my experience, the people who are the most successful in business finance are the ones who are able to see the big picture and understand how their work fits into the overall goals of the company. They’re also able to take complex financial concepts and explain them in a way that is easy for non-financial people to understand.
In addition, successful business finance professionals are always learning and keeping up with the latest changes in the marketplace. They know that the financial landscape is always changing and they need to be prepared for whatever comes their way.
ClimbtheLadder: What was the most challenging course you took? What advice would you give to students who are about to start this course?
Jaidyn Castro: The most challenging course I took was Business Valuation. The course was very challenging because it was very math heavy. My advice to students who are about to start this course is to make sure that you are very comfortable with math and financial concepts. This course will require you to use a lot of math in order to value businesses.
