Bailee Dunlap: I made sure to get involved in as many projects as possible that utilized the skills I was learning in my classes. I also did my best to get internships and jobs in the field of business intelligence while I was still in school. I think it’s important to get real-world experience in the field you want to pursue before you graduate so that you can hit the ground running when you do enter the workforce.

Bailee Dunlap: A successful Business Intelligence Analyst is someone who is able to take data and turn it into insights that can help drive business decisions. They need to be able to understand the business they are working in and be able to communicate with different stakeholders to understand their needs. They also need to be able to work with different teams to ensure that the data being collected is accurate and can be used to answer the business questions.
ClimbtheLadder: Was there anything about your Business Intelligence program that you didn’t expect or anticipate?
Bailee Dunlap: I expected the program to be very technical, and it was. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the technical aspects of the program. I also didn’t expect the program to be so focused on statistics. I thought there would be more of a focus on the business side of things.
