How to Write a Butler Resume

Here’s how to write a butler resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. But they’re not just about listing your responsibilities. They’re about telling a story about how you contributed to the organization and the results of your work. So rather than saying you “managed staff,” you could say you “led team of 15+ employees to achieve record-breaking sales of $3 million in first year, resulting in company-wide recognition and a 10%+ increase in stock price.”

Notice how the second bullet point is more specific and provides more detail about what exactly you did and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a job, your resume is likely to go through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This system is designed to search for certain keywords related to the position you’re applying for. If your resume doesn’t have enough of the right keywords, the ATS might not rank it highly enough to be seen by a recruiter.

The best way to make sure your resume contains the right keywords is to read through the job posting and take note of the language that is used. Then, try to use those same words in your resume. Here are some common butler keywords to get you started:

  • Windows Server
  • Active Directory
  • Technical Support
  • Computer Hardware
  • Troubleshooting
  • Networking
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • VMware
  • Servers
  • Software Installation
  • Operating Systems
  • Windows
  • Linux
  • Office 365
  • Data Center
  • Cloud Computing
  • System Administration
  • Network Administration
  • Computer Hardware Troubleshooting
  • IT Hardware Support
  • Service Desk
  • Printer Support
  • ITIL
  • Service Management
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • IT Service Management
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Virtualization
  • Windows 7
  • Domain Name System (DNS)

Showcase Your Technical Skills

There are a few key reasons why it’s important for butlers to list their technical skills on their resumes. Firstly, many butler positions require a certain level of technical proficiency, and not including this information on your resume may disqualify you from consideration. Secondly, listing your technical skills highlights your ability to not only use technology, but also to effectively manage and implement technology-based projects. This is an important skill that many butlers are looking for, as technology is becoming increasingly prevalent in most households. Finally, including your technical skills on your resume allows you to show off your breadth and depth of knowledge and experience, which can make you a more desirable candidate for butler positions.
