How to Write a Charge Nurse Resume

Here’s how to write a charge nurse resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the first thing recruiters will see. And they have to be compelling enough to make them want to read the rest of your resume.

So rather than just listing your responsibilities, you can use bullet points to describe the results of your work. For example, rather than saying you “managed patient care,” you could say you “reduced patient wait time from 3 hours to 30 minutes, improving patient satisfaction by 20% in first month.”

The second bullet point paints a much clearer picture of what you did and the results of your work. And it also provides a quantifiable result (20% improvement in patient satisfaction).

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a job as a charge nurse, your resume is likely to be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. This system looks for terms related to the position, like “patient care” and “discharge planning” in order to determine whether your skills and experience are a match for the job. If your resume doesn’t have enough relevant keywords, the ATS might discard your application before a human ever sees it.
