How to Write a Clinical Informatics Analyst Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

The best way to make your resume stand out is to use strong, specific language. Rather than saying you “analyzed data,” you could say you “analyzed patient data to identify trends and recommend improvements to clinical workflow.”

The second bullet point is much more specific and provides more detail about what exactly you did and the results of your work. And that level of detail will make it much easier for a hiring manager to picture you in the role and understand how your skills and experience align with the job.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a clinical informatics analyst role, your resume is likely to be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. ATS programs rank resumes based on how many of the desired keywords are found within the document. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right terms, your application might not even make it to a human recruiter.

The best way to make sure your resume contains the right keywords is to read through job postings and take note of the terms that are used most frequently. You can then add those same terms into your resume where they are most relevant.

  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Healthcare
  • Clinical Informatics
  • Healthcare Information Technology (HIT)
  • U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Informatics
  • Healthcare Management
  • Informatics Professional
  • Hospitals
  • Patient Safety
  • Epic Systems
  • Vital Signs
  • Inpatient Care
  • Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
  • Microsoft Access
  • Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE)
  • HIMSS
  • Health Information Management
  • Healthcare Industry
  • Nursing
  • Patient Advocacy
  • Home Health
  • Electronic Medical Record Implementation
  • Health Informatics
  • Medical Terminology
  • Pediatrics
  • Meditech
  • Epic Electronic Health Record
  • Pharmacy
  • Pharmacy Information Systems

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a clinical informatics analyst, you will need to be proficient in a variety of software programs and systems in order to effectively do your job. This might include experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, clinical decision support systems (CDSS), and healthcare data analytics tools. Additionally, it is important to be able to effectively communicate with other members of the healthcare team, so being proficient in programs like Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is also essential.
