How to Write a Clinical Nurse Leader Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

When you’re writing your bullet points, it can be tempting to simply list your responsibilities and duties. But that’s not going to make a strong impression on recruiters. Instead, you should focus on the results of your work.

For example, rather than saying you “provided patient care,” you could say that you “provided care for 20 patients with chronic conditions, resulting in a 95% satisfaction rating from patients.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about the project and the outcome. It also includes a quantifiable result (a 95% satisfaction rating).

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a clinical nurse leader role, your resume is likely to go through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This system will scan your resume for specific keywords related to the position. If your resume doesn’t have enough of the right terms, your application might not be seen by the hiring manager.

To increase your chances of getting an interview, use this list of clinical nurse leader keywords as a starting point to help you identify the most relevant skills and experience to include on your resume:

  • Nursing
  • Patient Safety
  • Healthcare
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Patient Education Programs
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a clinical nurse leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the care of patients and ensuring that they receive the best possible treatment. To do this effectively, you will need to be proficient in the use of various software programs and systems.

Some of the programs and systems that you should be familiar with include electronic health records (EHR) software, patient management software, and clinical decision support systems. Additionally, you should have a solid understanding of big data concepts and be able to use data mining and modeling techniques to improve patient care.
