Write Compelling Bullet Points
When it comes to writing bullet points, the more specific you can be, the better. Rather than saying you “managed cloud infrastructure for large-scale enterprise applications,” you could say that you “managed cloud infrastructure for large-scale enterprise applications, including 10+-node Apache Spark clusters deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS) using containerization technology to reduce deployment times from hours to minutes.”
The second bullet point is much more specific and provides more detail about what exactly you did and the results of your work. And that level of detail will make all the difference when it comes time for a hiring manager to review your resume.
Identify and Include Relevant Keywords
When you submit your resume to a cloud architect role, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. This program looks for certain terms related to cloud architecture like “virtualization” and “enterprise resource planning” in order to determine whether your skills are a match for the job. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right terms, the ATS might filter out your application.
