As a product manager, you’re responsible for understanding the needs of your customers and helping your company create solutions that will resonate with them. You’re also tasked with thinking about how your product fits into the larger picture of your brand. And finally, you’re tasked with keeping your product’s vision and strategy on track so it continues to grow and evolve in a way that will keep customers coming back for more.
If you love working with customers and want to be at the forefront of building something people love, you might be ready to become a product manager yourself. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with designers, developers, marketers, and other stakeholders to develop a product that meets customer needs while also delivering value for your company.
If you’re ready to write your dream job description and resume but aren’t sure where to start, here are some tips and an example to help you out.
Here’s how to write a resume of your own.
The best product manager resumes are clear and concise. Bullet points are the best way to do this because they allow you to quickly and easily describe your experience.
For example, rather than saying you “managed product launch for new cloud-based software,” you could say you “managed product launch for new cloud-based software, resulting in 100% increase in sales during first year.”
The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific numbers and details about what you did and the results of your work.
When you apply for a cloud product manager role, your resume is likely to go through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This program will scan your resume for specific keywords related to the job. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right terms, the ATS might automatically reject your application.
To increase your chances of getting an interview, make sure to include relevant keywords throughout all of the sections of your resume. You can find a list of commonly used keywords below:
As a cloud product manager, you need to be proficient in a variety of cloud-based software programs and systems. This might include experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or Salesforce. Additionally, you should have a solid understanding of big data concepts and platforms like Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.
Recruiters are also looking for cloud product managers who are comfortable with technology and are willing to embrace new ways of working. For example, many organizations are now using cloud-based solutions to provide services to customers in remote locations. So if you have experience with cloud-based technologies, be sure to list them on your resume.
