How to Write a Community Specialist Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

When you’re writing bullet points, it can be tempting to focus on the tasks and responsibilities of your job. But that’s not enough to make a compelling and memorable resume.

Instead, you should focus on the results of your work. For example, rather than saying you “conducted research for community outreach initiative,” you could say you “conducted research for community outreach initiative and identified 10 new community partners for local nonprofit.”

The second bullet point is more specific and provides more detail about what exactly you did and the outcome of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

In order for your resume to make it through the applicant tracking system (ATS) and into the hands of a community specialist, you need to make sure that it includes relevant keywords. The ATS will scan your resume for specific terms that indicate that you have the skills and experience required for the job. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right terms, the ATS might automatically reject your application.
