Gillian Gates: I made sure to get involved in as many extracurricular activities as possible. I was a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). I also did an internship at a local IT company. These experiences really helped me stand out when I was applying for jobs.
In addition, I took a variety of courses that covered different aspects of IT. This gave me a well-rounded skillset that employers were looking for.

Gillian Gates: The most rewarding aspects of my career are being able to help people and feeling like I am making a difference. I also enjoy the problem-solving aspect of my job. The most challenging aspects of my job are the long hours and the high stress levels.

Gillian Gates: I actually didn’t know what to expect going into my program. I had no prior experience with computers, so I was really starting from scratch. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it and how quickly I was able to learn.
