Write Compelling Bullet Points

When you’re writing bullet points, it can be tempting to focus on the responsibilities of your job. But that’s not enough to make a strong impression. Instead, you should focus on the results of your work.

For example, rather than saying you “managed employee schedules,” you could say that you “reduced employee scheduling errors by 50% in six months through new scheduling software implementation.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about what you did and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume online, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. ATS programs look for certain terms related to the job opening in order to determine whether or not you have the skills and experience that are most relevant to the position.
