Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the first thing recruiters and hiring managers will read. And they’re the best way to showcase your experience and qualifications.
But many job seekers make the mistake of using generic bullet points that don’t really tell a story or provide any context about their experience.
Instead, you should use your bullet points to tell a story about your experience. And that story should be specific and detailed.
For example, rather than saying you “managed customer accounts,” you could say you “managed customer accounts for top-tier luxury brand, overseeing $10M+ in annual revenue and managing 15+ accounts across five states.”
The second bullet point provides much more detail about the scope of the project and the size of the company. It also provides a specific number for the revenue generated by the accounts you managed.
When you submit your resume for a customer relationship manager (CRM) role, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. This system looks for certain terms related to the job like “sales” or “marketing” in order to determine whether your skills are a match for the position.
