How to Write a Customer Service Agent Resume

Here’s how to write a customer service agent resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

The best way to make your resume stand out is to use specific examples and numbers. So rather than saying you “provided customer service,” you could say that you “provided customer service for 20+ customers daily, resulting in a 98% satisfaction rate.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about what you did and the results of your work. And it also includes a quantifiable number to demonstrate your impact.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume online, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. The ATS will look for certain terms related to the job opening, like “customer service” or “help desk” in order to determine whether you have the necessary skills and experience to work in the role. If your resume doesn’t have enough of the right keywords, the ATS might filter out your application.

To increase your chances of getting an interview, make sure to include relevant keywords throughout all the sections of your resume. You can find a list of common customer service keywords below:

  • Contact Centers
  • Customer Satisfaction
  • Teamwork
  • Customer Experience
  • Technical Support
  • Sales
  • Time Management
  • Team Leadership
  • Social Media
  • Communication
  • Microsoft Access
  • Banking
  • Management
  • Customer Service
  • Customer Service Management
  • Team Building
  • Leadership
  • Contact Center Management
  • Cashiering
  • Customer Retention
  • Receptionist Duties
  • Phone Etiquette
  • Team Training
  • Teaching
  • Retail
  • Problem Solving
  • Data Entry
  • Opera
  • Public Speaking
  • Organization Skills

Showcase Your Technical Skills

Customer service agents use technology to provide support to customers. They are typically familiar with a variety of programs, such as customer service software, CRM software, and social media platforms. Additionally, customer service agents need to be able to use the phone and email to communicate with customers.
