Maurice House: The biggest takeaway that I got from my Cyber Security program was the ability to think like a hacker. In order to protect systems, you need to know how they are attacked. The program taught me how to think like a hacker and how to find vulnerabilities in systems.

ClimbtheLadder: What should students interested in Cyber Security be good at?

Maurice House: Cyber security students should be good at critical thinking and problem solving. They should be able to understand complex systems and how they work together. They should also be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.

ClimbtheLadder: Was there anything about your Cyber Security program that you didn’t expect or anticipate?

Maurice House: I expected my program to be difficult, and it was. I expected to learn a lot, and I did. But I didn’t expect the program to be as broad as it was. We covered everything from networking and systems administration to cryptography and ethical hacking.

The program was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in a career in cyber security.
