Jeremiah Garrison: I made sure to get involved in as many projects as possible. I also took on leadership roles in some of the clubs and organizations I was a part of. I felt that it was important to not only learn the technical aspects of database management, but also the soft skills that are necessary to be successful in any field.

ClimbtheLadder: What should students interested in Database Management be good at?

Jeremiah Garrison: In order to be successful in database management, students should be good at logical reasoning and problem solving. They should be able to understand complex problems and break them down into smaller, more manageable problems. Additionally, students should be proficient in at least one programming language, as this will be necessary for developing database applications.

ClimbtheLadder: What was the most challenging course you took? What advice would you give to students who are about to start this course?

Jeremiah Garrison: The most challenging course I took was Database Systems. The course was very theoretical and required a lot of mathematical proofs. My advice for students who are about to take the course is to be prepared to do a lot of reading and practice a lot of mathematical proofs. Also, be sure to find a good study group.
