How to Write a Dental Sales Representative Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. But rather than simply listing your responsibilities, you can make your resume much more interesting by using bullet points to describe specific examples of your work.

For example, rather than saying you “managed sales team,” you could say that you “increased sales by 15% in first quarter of 2019 by developing new relationships with key accounts and implementing new sales strategies.”

The second bullet point is much more specific and provides more detail about what exactly you did and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a job as a dental sales representative, your resume is likely to be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. These programs look for keywords related to the position, like “dental marketing” or “sales.” If your resume doesn’t have enough of these terms, the ATS might not rank it high enough to be seen by the hiring manager.

To increase your chances of getting an interview, make sure to include relevant keywords throughout all the sections of your resume. Here are some examples:

  • Dental Sales
  • Dental Products
  • Dentistry
  • Dental Marketing
  • Dentures
  • Dental Equipment
  • Dental Surgery
  • Dental Industry
  • Periodontics
  • Sales
  • Marketing
  • Teeth Whitening
  • Patient Education
  • Invisalign
  • Healthcare
  • Sales Management
  • Public Speaking
  • Teamwork
  • Retail
  • Microsoft Access
  • Social Media
  • Coaching
  • Customer Service
  • Communication
  • Leadership
  • Negotiation
  • Research
  • Strategic Planning
  • Organization Skills
  • Product Development

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a dental sales representative, you will need to be proficient in the use of various software programs in order to manage your territory, communicate with customers, and process orders. Some of the most commonly used programs in the dental industry are Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and PracticeWorks. In addition, you will need to be familiar with dental insurance plans and reimbursement rates.
