How to Write a Digital Marketer Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the first thing recruiters and hiring managers will read. So it’s crucial that you use them to your advantage by highlighting your most impressive accomplishments.

But rather than simply listing your responsibilities, you can make your bullet points much more interesting by using them to tell a story about your work. For example, rather than saying you “managed social media accounts,” you could say you “increased Facebook followers by 20% in 6 months by creating and distributing engaging content on a daily basis.”

The second bullet point is much more interesting and compelling because it provides specific details about what you did and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a digital marketer role, your resume is likely to go through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This program will scan your resume for specific keywords related to the job, like “digital marketing” or “social media.” If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right terms, the ATS might not forward it to a recruiter.

To increase your chances of getting noticed, use this list of common digital marketer keywords as a starting point and then add in other relevant terms that are specific to your experience:

  • Digital Marketing
  • Marketing
  • Digital Strategy
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Social Media Marketing

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Services

  • Web Content Writing
  • Google Webmaster Tools
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Online Advertising Strategies
  • Digital Media
  • Facebook Marketing

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a digital marketer, you need to be proficient in a variety of software programs and systems in order to effectively do your job. This might include experience with content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms, social media platforms, and analytics tools. Additionally, digital marketers need to be comfortable with technology and be able to adapt to new trends and changes in the digital landscape.

Some of the most common software programs and systems used by digital marketers include: WordPress, Hootsuite, MailChimp, Google Analytics, and Facebook Insights.
