Charlize Norton: I made the most of my Digital Media degree program by taking advantage of every opportunity that was available to me. I interned at two different companies during my time in school, and I also took on a number of freelance projects. I think it’s important to get as much real-world experience as possible, so that you can hit the ground running when you graduate.
I also made sure to take a wide range of courses, so that I would have a well-rounded skill set. In addition to taking classes in web design and development, I also took classes in graphic design, video production, and photography. I think it’s important to be a jack-of-all-trades in the digital media field, so that you can be prepared for anything that comes your way.

Charlize Norton: I think it’s important for students interested in digital media to be creative and have an eye for detail. Additionally, they should be good at writing, as well as be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
ClimbtheLadder: Was there anything about your Digital Media program that you didn’t expect or anticipate?
Charlize Norton: I expected my program to be very technical, with a lot of focus on the software and hardware side of things. However, I was surprised to find that the program was also very creative. We had to come up with concepts and execute them using the latest software and hardware.
