Instead, use your bullet points to tell a story about your experience. For example, rather than saying you “assisted in the delivery of newborns,” you could say you “assisted in the delivery of newborns in a busy urban hospital setting, resulting in a 98% successful delivery rate.”

The second bullet point paints a much clearer picture of the setting and outcome of the work. And it also provides a quantifiable result—a 98% successful delivery rate!

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume online, it’s likely that it will go through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This system is designed to search for specific keywords related to the job opening. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right terms, the ATS might discard your application.
