Example: “I’ve never had the opportunity to manage a team of sales associates, but I have worked in retail for five years now. In my current position, I am responsible for training new hires on our products and helping them learn the company’s policies. I also assist more experienced sales associates when they need help finding an item or assisting customers.”

3. What is your favorite brand and why?

This question is a great way to learn more about your potential new coworker’s interests and preferences. It can also help you determine which brands DSW carries in its stores, so you can mention how much you enjoy shopping there.

Example: “I love the brand Steve Madden because they have such cute shoes that are always on sale. I’m not sure if you carry them at DSW, but I would be thrilled if you did! I think it’s important to find good deals when shopping for clothes and accessories.”

4. Tell us about a time when you had to manage conflict between two members of the same team. How did you handle it?

The interviewer may ask you this question to assess your conflict resolution skills. Use examples from previous work experiences where you had to resolve a conflict between two members of the same team and how you handled it.

Then, I would try to find out what they wanted from me so I could make things right. For example, if they returned an item, I would offer them a refund or exchange. Or, if they were upset about something else, I would do everything I could to fix the situation.”

6. Are you willing to learn new software programs and systems?

The interviewer may ask this question to see if you’re willing to adapt to new systems and processes in the workplace. Use your answer to show that you’re a quick learner who’s eager to learn more about the company’s software programs and other tools used for daily operations.

Example: “I’m always open to learning new things, especially when it comes to my career. I’ve taken several online courses on how to use different types of software programs and have learned quite a bit from them. If hired, I would be happy to take any additional training or classes needed to help me get up-to-speed with the company’s current systems.”

7. Why should we hire you instead of someone else?

This question is a great way for employers to learn more about your qualifications and how you can benefit their company. When answering this question, it’s important to highlight the skills that make you an ideal candidate for the position.

Example: “I am highly motivated and eager to learn new things. I have excellent communication skills and enjoy working with others. My attention to detail makes me a valuable asset in any organization. I also have experience working as a part-time sales associate at a shoe store where I learned many of the skills necessary to succeed in this role.”

8. Are you comfortable working in retail environments?

The interviewer may ask this question to learn more about your experience working in retail environments. If you have previous experience, share what you enjoyed most about the job and how it prepared you for a career at DSW Inc. 11. Provide an example of a time when you went above and beyond for a customer.

This question is an opportunity to show your interviewer that you are a dedicated employee who cares about the company’s customers. When answering this question, it can be helpful to think of a time when you helped a customer in need or went out of your way to make their shopping experience more enjoyable.

12. Can you tell me about a time when you made an important decision that was not straightforward? Explain the steps you took to make the decision.

This question can help the interviewer understand how you make decisions and what your thought process is. It can also show them that you are able to think critically about a situation and come up with an appropriate solution.

Example: “When I was working as a social worker, there were many times when my clients would ask me for advice on which treatment they should pursue. 14. What aspect of this job do you think will be most challenging for you?

This question is a great way for the interviewer to get an idea of what you think will be most challenging about this role. They are looking for someone who can overcome challenges and thrive in their position. When answering, it’s important to highlight your ability to adapt to change and learn new things.

Example: “I think that the biggest challenge I might face would be learning how to navigate the company’s inventory system. I’ve never worked with one before, so I’m excited to learn something new. I am confident that I have the skills necessary to quickly learn any software or program.”

15. What is your experience with working as part of a team?

Working as part of a team is an important aspect of the role. The interviewer may ask this question to learn more about your interpersonal skills and how you work with others. To answer, think of a time when you worked well with others on a project or task.

20. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

This question is a great way to learn more about your potential new hire’s career goals. It also helps employers determine if you’re likely to stay with the company for an extended period of time. When answering this question, it can be helpful to think about what you want to accomplish in your career and how working at DSW Inc. will help you achieve those goals.
