How to Write an Economic Consultant Resume

Here’s how to write an economic consultant resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the first thing recruiters and hiring managers will see. And they’re the best way to showcase your experience and qualifications.

So it’s crucial that you use them to your advantage. And the best way to do that is by using specific, descriptive language. For example, rather than saying you “provided financial advice,” you could say you “provided financial advice for small businesses looking to expand operations and increase profitability.”

The second bullet point is much more specific and provides more detail about what you did and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume for an economic consultant role, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. These programs look for certain terms related to the job like “macroeconomic analysis” or “microeconomic modeling” to determine whether your experience is a match for the position. If you don’t have the right keywords on your resume, the ATS might discard your application before a recruiter ever sees it.

To increase your chances of getting an interview, use this list of common economic consultant keywords as a starting point to help you identify the skills and experiences that are most relevant to the role:

  • Economics
  • Economics Consulting
  • Economic Consulting

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As an economic consultant, you will need to be proficient in the use of various software programs and economic models in order to do your job effectively. Some of the most commonly used programs include Excel, STATA, and R. You should also have a solid understanding of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics.
