How to Write an Expeditor Resume

Here’s how to write an resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. And while it’s tempting to simply list your responsibilities, a more effective approach is to use bullet points to describe the results of your work.

For example, rather than saying you “managed inventory for large retail chain,” you could say that you “reduced inventory levels by 15% in six months, contributing to a 10% increase in sales during that time.”

The second bullet point paints a clear picture of what you did and the results of your work. And it provides a quantifiable result (15% reduction in inventory levels).

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume for an expeditor role, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. This software looks for certain terms related to the job, like “warehouse” or “distribution center,” in order to determine whether your skills and experience are a match for the position. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right keywords, the ATS might automatically reject your application.

To increase your chances of getting an expeditor job, focus on including relevant keywords throughout all sections of your resume. You can find a list of common expeditor keywords below:

  • Shipping

Additionally, it is helpful to be familiar with order management software, like Shipstation, and shipping software, like UPS and FedEx.
