What are some of the most important qualities that a franchise manager should have?

Example: “I believe some of the most important qualities a franchise manager should have are strong communication skills, problem-solving skills and leadership skills. How would you deal with a situation where an employee was not meeting your standards?

An employer may ask this question to see how you handle conflict. This is an important skill for a franchise manager because they will likely have to discipline employees from time to time. When answering, it can be helpful to give an example of how you would approach the situation and what your expectations are for employees.

Example: “I would first meet with the employee privately to discuss their performance. I would let them know that I am committed to helping them improve and provide resources or training if needed. What is your experience with managing budgets and financial reports?

If you have worked for the parent company before, describe what you know about their policies and procedures. The interviewer may ask you to describe your management style and how you approach managing a team. Describe the steps you take when starting a new project or monitoring ongoing operations.

Example: “I start each day by reviewing my calendar for upcoming meetings, deadlines and other important events. I then check in with my team members to see if they have any questions or concerns that need immediate attention. Throughout the day, I monitor progress on projects and provide feedback as needed. If I notice something that needs improvement, I address it immediately so we can avoid further issues.”

What makes you stand out from other candidates for this position?

Employers ask this question to learn more about your qualifications and how you can contribute to their franchise. Before your interview, make a list of all the skills and experiences that qualify you for this role. Focus on what makes you unique from other candidates and highlight any transferable skills or experience you have that will help you succeed in this position.

Example: “I am passionate about customer service and believe it’s important to treat customers with respect and kindness. Which industries do you have the most experience working in as a franchise manager?

Example: “I have extensive experience working in the food service industry, specifically at restaurants. What do you think is the most important aspect of communication between a parent company and its franchises?

This question can help an interviewer determine your communication skills and how you use them to keep a franchise network connected. Use examples from past experiences where you used effective communication methods to share information with other members of the team or company.

Example: “I think it’s important for a parent company to communicate regularly with its franchises, especially when there are changes in policies or procedures that may affect their operations. I’ve found that regular communication helps me build relationships with my colleagues at different locations, which makes it easier to collaborate on projects and solve problems together.”

How often should you update your strategic plan as a franchise manager?

Franchise managers need to be able to create and update strategic plans for their franchise locations. Interviewers may ask this question to see if you have experience with creating a strategic plan and how often you update it. In your answer, explain that you should update your strategic plan at least once per year. Explain that doing so allows you to evaluate the progress of your franchise location and make any necessary changes to ensure success.

This question is a great way to assess your leadership skills and how you would handle unexpected challenges. When answering this question, it can be helpful to describe the steps you would take to implement changes in your franchise operations.

Example: “When there are new laws that impact our business, I first look at what the law requires us to do. Then, I meet with my team to discuss how we can make these changes while still maintaining our company’s standards. Finally, I communicate the changes to all of our franchises so they know what to expect.”
