How to Write a Health And Wellness Consultant Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

When you’re writing bullet points, it can be tempting to simply list your responsibilities. But that’s not enough to make a strong impression. Instead, you should use your bullet points to demonstrate your value by highlighting your accomplishments and results.

For example, rather than saying you “provided health assessments for new employees,” you could say you “provided health assessments for 200 new employees, resulting in a 10% decrease in health care costs for the company.”

The second bullet point paints a clear picture of what you did and the impact of your work. It also provides a specific number to demonstrate the scale of the project.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a health and wellness consultant role, your resume is usually scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. This system looks for keywords related to the position, like “fitness” or “wellness” in order to determine whether your skills are a match for the job. If you don’t have enough of the right keywords on your resume, the ATS might reject your application before a recruiter ever sees it.

To make sure this doesn’t happen, it’s important to include relevant keywords throughout all sections of your resume, but especially in the work experience and skills sections. Here are some of the most commonly used health and wellness keywords:

  • Wellness
  • Nutrition
  • Health Coaching
  • Nutritional Counseling
  • Holistic Health
  • Lifestyle Coaching
  • Health & Wellness
  • Wellness Coaching
  • Personal Training
  • Health Education
  • Fitness
  • Coaching
  • Weight Management
  • Mind-Body Medicine
  • Functional Medicine
  • Food Allergy
  • Dietetics
  • Stress Management
  • Diabetes
  • Public Speaking
  • Sales
  • Event Planning
  • Sales Management
  • Social Media
  • Customer Service
  • Microsoft Access
  • Strategic Planning
  • Team Leadership
  • Business Development
  • Team Building

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a health and wellness consultant, you need to be proficient in a variety of software programs and systems in order to effectively do your job. This might include familiarity with health information databases, patient management software, or fitness tracking apps. Additionally, many employers now use social media platforms to market their services, and consultants who are familiar with these platforms will be better equipped to take advantage of this growing trend.
