How to Write a Healthcare Compliance Manager Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

When you’re writing bullet points, it can be tempting to simply list your responsibilities. But that’s not enough to make a strong impression. Instead, you should use your bullet points to demonstrate your value by showing how you contributed to the organization.

For example, rather than saying you “managed compliance for large hospital system,” you could say that you “oversaw compliance for 20+ hospitals, ensuring all facilities met federal, state, and local regulations.”

The second bullet point paints a much clearer picture of what the job entailed and how you contributed to the organization.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a healthcare compliance manager role, your resume is likely to go through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This system will scan your resume for certain keywords related to the job opening. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right terms, the ATS might not forward it to a recruiter.

To increase your chances of getting noticed, use this list of keywords as a starting point and then work them into the relevant sections of your resume.

  • Healthcare Compliance
  • Healthcare
  • Healthcare Management
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Managed Care
  • Quality Improvement

  • Credentialing
  • Risk Management
  • HIM Strategy

  • Auditing
  • Medical Records
  • U.S. Stark Law
  • Clinical Research
  • U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS)

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a healthcare compliance manager, you will need to be proficient in a variety of software programs and systems in order to effectively do your job. Some of the programs you should be familiar with include electronic health records (EHR) systems, hospital billing systems, and coding systems. Additionally, you should have a solid understanding of big data concepts and platforms like Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.
