How to Write a Hedge Fund Manager Resume

Here’s how to write a hedge fund manager resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the first thing recruiters and hiring managers will see. And they’re the best way to showcase your experience and qualifications.

But many job seekers make the mistake of using generic bullet points that don’t really tell a story or provide any context about their experience.

Instead, you should use your bullet points to tell a story about your experience. And that story should be as specific as possible.

For example, rather than saying you “managed hedge fund,” you could say you “managed $10 million hedge fund to a 15% return on investment in first year, contributing to 20% increase in company stock price over next year.”

The second bullet point paints a much clearer picture of what you did and the results of your work. And it also provides some context by mentioning the size of the fund and the impact on the company’s stock price.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume to a hedge fund, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. These programs look for specific terms related to the job opening in order to determine whether your experience is a match. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right keywords, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.

One way to make sure your resume includes the right keywords is to read through several job postings and take note of the terms that are used repeatedly. You can then use those same words on your resume.

Showcase Your Technical Skills

Hedge fund managers are responsible for the management and investment of financial assets. In order to be successful in this role, it is essential that managers are proficient in a variety of technical systems and procedures. Recruiters are looking for managers who are skilled in programs like Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, and manufacturing software. Additionally, it is important that managers are familiar with government regulations related to their industry, as they will often be responsible for ensuring that the organization is in compliance with these regulations.
