How to Write a Homemaker Resume

Here’s how to write a homemaker resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. But rather than simply listing your responsibilities, you can make your resume more interesting by using bullet points to describe the results of your work.

For example, rather than saying you “provided care for children,” you could say that you “provided care for children ages 2-5, ensuring they received proper nutrition, exercise, and rest while also providing emotional support and guidance.”

Notice how the second bullet point is more specific and provides more detail about what exactly you did. It also includes a quantifiable result—ensuring children received proper nutrition, exercise, and rest—which makes it easier for a reader to understand your level of involvement and the impact of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a homemaker role, your resume is likely to go through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This system will scan your resume for certain keywords related to the job opening. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right terms, your application might not make it past the initial screening.
