The best way to make your resume stand out is to use specific examples and numbers. So rather than saying you “assisted with banquet setup,” you could say you “assisted with banquet setup for 200+ guests, including tables, chairs, linens, and decorations, in less than 2 hours.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about what you did and how well you did it. And it also includes a quantifiable result—200+ guests in less than 2 hours—which is always a good thing!

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a hospitality assistant role, your resume is likely to go through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This system will scan your resume for specific skills and terms related to the job, like “hospitality” or “customer service.” If your resume doesn’t have enough of the right keywords, the ATS might not rank it as a top candidate.
