IMEG Interview Process

2. What is your experience in the engineering field?

This question is a great way to gauge your experience level and how you can apply it to the role. If you have no engineering experience, consider what other relevant work experience you have that would be helpful in this position.

Example: “I’ve been working as an engineer for five years now. I started out as an intern at a local firm where I worked on several projects. After graduating with my bachelor’s degree, I was hired by the same company full-time. There, I gained more experience and learned new skills. Eventually, I became a project manager, which allowed me to oversee multiple engineers and their projects.”

3. Tell me about a time when you were not able to meet a deadline, how did you handle it?

This question is an opportunity to show your problem-solving skills and ability to learn from mistakes. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention a time when you were able to overcome the challenge and how that experience helped you grow as a professional.

Example: “In my first role as an IT specialist, I was tasked with creating a new website for a client. The deadline was tight, but I felt confident in my abilities. Unfortunately, due to some technical issues, I wasn’t able to complete the project on time. I immediately called my manager and explained what happened. He understood and gave me an extension on the project. I worked late into the night to get the website completed by the next day.”

4. Give an example of a time when you had to solve a problem that was not straightforward. How did you approach the problem?

This question is an opportunity to show your problem-solving skills. It can be a great way to demonstrate how you use critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems.

Example: “In my previous role, I was responsible for managing the company’s social media accounts. One day, I noticed that our Instagram account had been hacked. The hacker changed the username of the account and posted inappropriate content on it. I immediately contacted my supervisor about the situation. We decided that I would take down the account until we could figure out what happened.

I worked with IT to create a new account so that we could continue posting content to our followers. After taking care of this issue, I created a more secure password for all of our social media accounts.”

5. Why do you want to work at IMEG?

6. Describe your experience working with mechanical components.

This question is an opportunity to show your knowledge of mechanical components and how you use them in your work. You can answer this question by describing a time when you used mechanical components in your work, the type of component you used and what you accomplished with it.

Example: “In my last role as an engineer, I worked on a team that was tasked with creating a new product for our company. We had to design the product so that it could be manufactured at scale. To do this, we needed to understand the limitations of each mechanical component we were using. For example, we knew that some parts of the product would need to be made out of metal because they couldn’t withstand heat from plastic manufacturing processes. By understanding these limitations, we were able to create a product that met all of its requirements.”

7. Do you have any experience designing and testing electrical components?

This question can help the interviewer determine if you have any experience with electrical components and how much you know about them. Electrical engineers use their knowledge of electrical components to design, test and troubleshoot circuits that power machines and equipment. Your answer should show your understanding of what electrical components are and how they work.

Example: “I’ve worked on several projects where I had to understand electrical components in order to complete my tasks. For example, when I was working at a software company, we were tasked with creating an app that would allow users to control lights using their phones. We needed to create a circuit that would connect the phone to the light so it could turn it on or off. I used my knowledge of electrical components to find out which ones we needed for our project.”

8. If hired, what would be your approach to designing software for an assembly line?

This question is an opportunity to show your knowledge of the field and how you would apply it in a real-world situation. Your answer should include specific examples from previous projects or experiences that demonstrate your ability to design software for industrial applications.

Example: “I have experience designing software for assembly lines, where I worked with clients who needed to monitor their production processes. In my last role, I designed a system that tracked the progress of each step in the manufacturing process. The client was able to use this information to identify bottlenecks in their production line and make adjustments as necessary. This allowed them to increase their output by 10%.”

9. In your opinion, which area of engineering has shown the most growth over the past few years?

10. We want our engineers to be able to work independently. Do you think you would be a good fit for that type of environment?

11. What are some important qualities that a designer should have?

This question can help the interviewer determine if you have the skills and abilities to succeed in this role. When answering, it can be helpful to mention a few qualities that are important for designers and how they apply to your own experience.

Example: “A designer should be creative, organized and detail-oriented. I think these three qualities are essential because they allow me to create innovative designs while also ensuring that my work is of high quality. In my last position, I was tasked with creating an ad campaign for a client’s new product line. I started by researching the client’s brand and finding out what their target audience wanted from their products. From there, I created several different concepts for the ads and presented them to the client. They chose one of my ideas, and I used my organizational skills to ensure that all of the details were correct before sending it to print.”

12. Which area of design are you most interested in?

This question is a great way to see if the company you’re interviewing with offers multiple areas of design. If they do, it’s important to show that you have an interest in all of them. When answering this question, try to list at least two or three different types of design and explain why you find each one interesting.

Example: “I’m most interested in web design because I love creating user-friendly interfaces for websites. It’s so rewarding when someone can use my website and navigate through it without any issues. I also enjoy graphic design because I like making things look aesthetically pleasing. I think it’s important to make sure everything looks good before sending it out into the world.”

13. Have you ever worked on a project where you had to communicate with people who didn’t speak English well?

This question can help interviewers understand how you adapt to different cultures and languages. Use examples from your experience that highlight your ability to communicate with people who don’t speak English well, as well as your ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Example: “In my last role, I worked on a project where we had to collaborate with an international client. The company was based in Germany, but they wanted to expand into the U.S. market. We were tasked with creating a marketing campaign for their new product launch. Since our team spoke primarily English, we had to find ways to communicate with our German clients.

I found it helpful to use Google Translate to translate documents and emails. It wasn’t always accurate, but it helped us get our point across. In addition, I would ask questions multiple times so that I could ensure I understood what they were saying.”

14. How often do you like to be in contact with your team when working on a project?

This question can help the interviewer determine how you feel about collaboration and teamwork. It can also show them your communication preferences, which is important for an IMEG role. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention a specific time when you preferred working independently while still being able to communicate with others as needed.

Example: “I like to have regular check-ins with my team members throughout projects. I find that these meetings are great opportunities to discuss any challenges we’re facing or questions we may have. They also allow us to celebrate our successes together. 16. What kind of projects do you see yourself working on if you were hired?

This question is a great way for employers to learn more about your skills and how you plan to use them in their company. When answering this question, it can be helpful to list the projects that are most interesting to you or those that you have experience with.

Example: “I see myself working on large-scale projects where I get to work with many different departments. I also really enjoy creating content marketing strategies because I find it fun to come up with creative ways to reach customers.”

17. What is your experience with designing and releasing software?

This question is an opportunity to show your experience with the software development process. You can describe a project you worked on that involved designing and releasing software.

Example: “In my last role, I was responsible for creating new features for our company’s software. My team and I would meet weekly to discuss what we were working on and how it related to the overall goals of the company. We also met with stakeholders throughout the week to get their feedback on our progress. After each meeting, we would update our design documents so everyone knew where we were in the process.
