Industrious Interview Process

The interview process at Industrious can be lengthy, with some candidates reporting up to eight interviews, plus a written assessment. 1. What do you think is the most important skill in coworking?

This question is a great way to show your knowledge of the coworking industry and how you can contribute to it. When answering, consider what skills are most important for coworkers to have in order to be successful at their jobs.

Example: “I think communication is the most important skill in coworking because it allows us to work together more efficiently. I’ve found that many people who work remotely struggle with communicating effectively, which makes them less productive than they could be. In my last role as an office manager, I implemented weekly meetings where everyone got together in person to discuss projects and ask questions. This helped our team become more cohesive and led to better results.”

2. Do you have experience with managing a team?

This question can help the interviewer determine your leadership skills and how you might fit into their company. If you have experience managing a team, describe what made you successful in that role. If you don’t have direct management experience, you can still discuss your ability to lead others or manage projects.

Example: “In my previous position as an account manager for a marketing agency, I led a small team of three employees who worked on client accounts with various needs. My goal was to make sure everyone had everything they needed to do their job well, so I regularly met with each employee to check in and see if they needed anything from me. This helped us build strong relationships and achieve our goals.”

3. How would you handle an unhappy member?

This question can help interviewers understand how you handle conflict and address customer concerns. Use examples from your previous experience to show the interviewer that you’re a problem solver who’s willing to go above and beyond for customers.

Example: “I once had a client who was unhappy with their workspace because they didn’t have enough privacy. I offered to move them into a private office, but they declined. Instead, I suggested we add dividers to their current space so they could have more privacy while still being in an open environment. They were happy with this solution and even referred us to two of their friends.”

4. Tell me about a time when you had to deal with conflict on your team and how you handled it.

When answering this question, it can be helpful to provide specific examples of how you handled the conflict and what actions helped resolve the issue.

Example: “In my previous role as a project manager, I had a team member who was consistently late for meetings and would miss deadlines on projects. When I first addressed the issue with him, he assured me that he would improve his performance but continued to have issues meeting expectations. After several conversations about his behavior, I decided to remove him from the project team. He was upset by the decision, but after some time away from the team, he realized how important his work ethic was to our company and returned to the team.”

5. If hired, what skills would you bring to Industrious?

This question is a great way to show your interviewer that you have done some research on the company and are familiar with its mission. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention skills or experiences that align with what Industrious looks for in their employees.

Example: “I would bring my ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. I am also highly organized and detail-oriented, which I think would help me succeed at Industrious. 6. Do you feel comfortable working alone or in groups?

This question is a way for the interviewer to assess your ability to work independently or with others. It’s important that you show you can be productive and efficient in both situations, so make sure you highlight how you feel about working alone or in groups.

Example: “I enjoy working in groups because it allows me to collaborate with other professionals and learn from them. However, I also know when to work on my own and am comfortable doing so. In fact, I find that being able to work independently helps me focus more and get things done quickly.”

7. Describe a time when you were successful at getting someone to buy into your idea.

This question is a great way to show your communication skills and how you can influence others. When answering this question, it’s important to highlight the steps you took to convince someone of your idea.

Example: “At my previous job, I was tasked with creating an event for our company that would bring everyone together. At first, many people were hesitant about the idea because they didn’t want to spend money on something that may not be worth it. So, I started by asking them what they thought we could do as a team building activity. After hearing their ideas, I created a list of all the activities we could do based on those suggestions. Then, I presented the list to everyone and asked which ones they liked best. From there, I organized the top three choices into a poll so everyone could vote.”

8. Do you have prior sales experience?

This question can help the interviewer determine if you have experience selling a product or service. If you do, they may ask you to describe your previous sales experience and how it relates to this position. If you don’t have prior sales experience, you can talk about any other relevant work experience that involves persuading others to buy something.

Example: “I’ve never worked in sales before, but I did work as an event planner for my college’s student union. My job was to plan events that would attract students to come to campus and attend our events. This required me to persuade students to attend our events by advertising them through social media and email marketing campaigns.”

9. Have you ever managed a budget?

This question can help an interviewer understand your financial management skills. If you have experience managing a budget, describe how you did it and what the results were. If you don’t have direct experience with budgets, you can talk about how you would manage one if given the opportunity.

Example: “I’ve never had to manage my own budget before, but I am familiar with how to do so. In college, I helped my roommate create a budget for our apartment that we both followed. We tracked our spending each week and made adjustments as needed. This system worked well for us, and we always stayed within our budget.”

10. Are you able to travel for work?

If the position requires you to travel, employers may ask this question to make sure you’re comfortable with it. If they don’t state that you’ll be traveling for work in your job description, they might ask this question to see if you have experience doing so. When answering this question, consider what kind of travel is involved and how often you would need to do it.

Example: “I am happy to travel for work as long as I’m able to get home at night. I’ve done a lot of business trips where I was gone for two or three days at a time, but I prefer shorter trips that are closer to home. I find that I can accomplish more when I’m not away from my family for too long.”

11. What are your thoughts on the current state of flexible workspaces?

This question can help an interviewer get a better sense of your knowledge about the industry and how you feel about it. Your answer should include some information on what flexible workspaces are, as well as your thoughts on their current state.

Example: “I think that flexible workspaces are great for companies because they allow employees to work in a way that’s most comfortable for them. For example, I’ve worked at several different companies where we had to be in the office from 9-5 every day. This was difficult for me because I’m more productive when I can work in spurts throughout the day rather than sitting at my desk all morning. Flexible workspaces give people like me the opportunity to do our best work.”

12. When was a time that you failed at something and how did you overcome it?

This question can help the interviewer get a better sense of your problem-solving skills and how you learn from your mistakes. Use examples that showcase your ability to analyze situations, make decisions and implement solutions.

Example: “When I first started my career as an accountant, I was working on a project for one of our clients when I realized I had made a mistake in my calculations. Instead of trying to fix it myself, I immediately contacted my supervisor so they could review my work and correct the error before submitting the final report. While this process took longer than expected, it helped me understand the importance of asking for help when needed.”

13. Give us an example of a time when you demonstrated leadership qualities.

As a manager, you will need to be able to lead your team. Employers ask this question to see if you have the potential to become a leader in their company. When answering this question, think of an example where you were leading a group or project and how it turned out successfully.

Example: “In my last job as a receptionist, I was tasked with organizing a holiday party for our office. I knew that I would be working with many different departments, so I decided to create a committee of employees from each department to help plan the event. We met once a week to discuss ideas and delegate tasks. The party ended up being a huge success, and we all got along well.”

14. Why should we hire you over other candidates?

This question is a great way for employers to learn more about your qualifications and how you can contribute to their company. When answering this question, it’s important to highlight the skills that make you an ideal candidate. You should also be prepared to answer questions regarding any gaps in your employment history or other concerns they may have.

Example: “I am confident that I would be an excellent addition to your team because of my proven track record of success. In my previous role as a project manager, I was able to increase productivity by 20% while reducing costs by 10%. My ability to work well with others and communicate effectively makes me a valuable asset to Industrious.”

15. What are some events you can organize to drive community engagement?

This question can help the interviewer understand your event planning skills and how you might contribute to the company’s community engagement efforts.

Example: “I’ve organized several events at my previous job, including a holiday party for our clients and employees, an annual summer picnic and a Halloween costume contest. I enjoy working with others to plan these types of events because it gives me the opportunity to get to know my coworkers better while also giving back to the community.”

16. What would be your approach to creating a new location?

This question is a great way to assess your leadership skills and ability to work with others. When answering this question, it can be helpful to describe the steps you would take to create a new location from scratch.

Example: “I would first start by researching the area where I would like to open up a new location. After doing my research, I would then meet with the current team members of Industrious to discuss what they are looking for in a new location. 17. Can you tell us about a project where you successfully worked as part of a team?

18. We want our managers to be able to run their locations independently. Do you think you would be a good fit for this type of role?

This question is a great way to show your interviewer that you have the skills and experience needed for this role. When answering, make sure to highlight any previous management roles or training you’ve had in managing others.

Example: “I think I would be a great fit for this type of role because I’ve been working as an independent contractor for the past three years. During that time, I’ve managed my own schedule and worked with clients on projects. This has given me valuable experience in how to manage employees and work well with others.”

19. Tell us why you want to work here.

This question is a great way to show your interest in the company and its culture. It also allows you to learn more about what it’s like to work there. When preparing for this question, read through the job description and look at the company website. Try to find out what their values are and how they describe themselves as a company.

Example: “I want to work here because I love the idea of creating an environment that fosters creativity and collaboration. Your mission statement really resonates with me, and I think I would be a great fit for this role because I’m passionate about helping others succeed.”

20. Do you have any experience using Salesforce or other CRM tools?

Salesforce is a customer relationship management (CRM) tool that many businesses use to manage their sales and marketing efforts. If you have experience using this or other CRM tools, share your knowledge of how they can help improve business processes.

Example: “I’ve used Salesforce in my previous role as an account manager at a software company. I found it helpful for managing client accounts and tracking the progress of our sales team’s goals. It also helped me stay organized by creating custom reports and dashboards based on specific criteria.”
