How to Write an International Tax Manager Resume

Here’s how to write an resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

The best way to make your resume stand out is to use specific numbers and statistics to demonstrate your experience and skills. So rather than saying you “managed international tax compliance for multinational corporation,” you could say that you “managed international tax compliance for multinational corporation, reducing tax liability by $2 million over two years through careful analysis of tax code and implementation of new strategies.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about what you did, how you did it, and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a job as a international tax manager, your resume goes through an applicant tracking system (ATS). This program scans your resume for specific keywords related to the job opening. If you don’t have the right keywords on your resume, the ATS might not forward your application to the hiring manager.

To increase your chances of getting an interview, use this list of international tax manager keywords to help you optimize your resume:

  • International Tax
  • International Tax Planning
  • Transfer Pricing
  • Global Tax
  • U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS)

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As an international tax manager, you will need to be proficient in a variety of software programs and systems in order to effectively do your job. Some of the programs you should be familiar with include QuickBooks, Excel, and Word. Additionally, if you have experience with other relevant programs or systems, be sure to list them as well.

Your technical skills will be one of the deciding factors in whether or not you get an interview, so make sure you highlight your skills and experience in your resume.
