1. Describe how you would prioritize your projects if there were two that needed to be completed at the same time.

This question is a great way to test your time management skills. It also allows the interviewer to see how you prioritize tasks and manage your schedule. When answering this question, it can be helpful to describe two projects that are similar in nature and explain why one project was more important than the other.

Example: “If I had two projects that needed to be completed at the same time, I would first consider which project would benefit my company the most. If both projects were equally beneficial to the company, then I would look at the deadline for each project. I would complete the project with the earlier deadline first so that I could focus on the later deadline without having to rush.”

2. Do you have experience in facilities management? If so, what is the biggest thing you learned from it?

This question is a great way to show your interviewer that you have experience in facilities management and what you learned from it. This can help them see how you’ve grown as a professional and the skills you’ve developed along the way.

Example: “I do have some experience in facilities management, but I mostly worked with clients on their office spaces. In my last role, I was responsible for maintaining the company’s offices, which included cleaning common areas, vacuuming floors and emptying trash cans. While this may seem like an easy task, there are many different aspects of facilities management that I had to learn. For example, I had to learn how to schedule employees so they could clean each area efficiently.”

3. What do you know about JLL and our core values?

This question is a great way to test your knowledge of the company and its values. It also allows you to show that you have researched the company before applying for the job. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention one or two things about JLL and then relate them back to how they align with your own core values.

Example: “I know that JLL stands for Jones Lang LaSalle, which was founded in Chicago in 1945 by John A. Mettauer. I also know that JLL’s core values are innovation, collaboration, integrity and respect. These values are ones that I hold dear as well. In my last position, I worked on an innovative project that helped our team collaborate more effectively. This led to better communication and stronger relationships between employees.”

4. How would you manage a conflict with a team member?

Teamwork is an important part of working in real estate. Employers ask this question to make sure you can work well with others and resolve conflicts. Use your answer to show that you are a team player who values collaboration. Explain how you would approach the conflict, what steps you would take to solve it and how you would prevent similar issues from happening again.

Example: “I believe that teamwork is essential for success. I would first try to understand why my colleague was upset. Then, I would talk to them about their concerns and apologize if I had done something wrong. Next, I would find out what they need to feel better. For example, maybe they want more feedback or training. Finally, I would follow up with them after our conversation to see how they’re doing.”

5. Have you ever made a mistake on a project? How did you handle it?

Employers ask this question to see how you respond to challenges and learn from your mistakes. They want to know that you are willing to admit when you make a mistake, take responsibility for it and try to fix the problem. In your answer, share an example of a time you made a mistake on a project and what steps you took to correct it.

Example: “When I was working as a leasing agent, I had a client who wanted to lease a space in our building. However, they were only interested in one floor of the building. I told them we didn’t have any available spaces like that, but then later found out there was a unit available on the floor they wanted. I immediately called the client and apologized for my mistake. We worked together to find another space that met their needs.”

6. Tell me about a time where you had to work independently for an extended period of time. How did you stay motivated?

This question is a great way to learn more about your potential manager and how they work. It can also be an opportunity for you to show that you are self-motivated and have the ability to complete tasks without much supervision.

Example: “When I was working as a leasing agent, my team had a few members out on vacation or sick leave at once. This meant that I would need to handle all of their clients while still handling my own. To stay motivated during this time, I focused on one task at a time and tried not to get overwhelmed by everything I needed to do. I also made sure to take breaks when I needed them so I could recharge myself.”

7. Why are you interested in working at JLL?

This question is a great way for the interviewer to learn more about your background and how it relates to working at JLL. Use this opportunity to show that you have done some research on the company, its values and what makes it unique. You can also use this as an opportunity to highlight any skills or experiences that make you a good fit for the role.

Example: “I am interested in working at JLL because of the company’s reputation for being innovative and forward-thinking. 8. How would you build rapport with a client or customer?

9. Tell me about a time when you worked as part of a team that was not very successful, how did you handle it?

10. What do you think is important to remember when managing a project?

11. Tell me about a time you had to make a decision without consulting your manager first.

When we got to the final location, the client said they didn’t like it because it wasn’t close enough to their current building. I explained that this was the only option left on their list, but they still refused to rent there. My manager ended up calling the client’s company and finding out that they actually wanted to stay at their current location.”

12. How would you go about designing a space plan for a building?

This question is a great way to assess your organizational and planning skills. It also allows you to show the interviewer how you can apply your creativity to solve problems. When answering this question, it can be helpful to describe each step of the process in detail.

Example: “I would first start by researching the client’s needs and goals for the space. I would then create a preliminary floor plan that includes all necessary elements like restrooms, conference rooms and break areas. Next, I would review the floor plan with my team to make sure we are on track. Then, I would meet with the client to discuss any changes they want made to the floor plan. After making those adjustments, I would finalize the floor plan and submit it to the construction crew.”

13. What type of project management tools do you use?

This question can help the interviewer determine your level of experience with project management tools. It also helps them understand how you might use their company’s specific tools to complete projects. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention a few different types of tools and what they’re used for.

Example: “I’ve worked in many industries where I needed to use several different types of project management tools. In my last role, I primarily used Microsoft Project to manage tasks and deadlines. This helped me keep track of all team members’ progress on each task and ensured we met our deadline. Another tool I used was Slack, which is an online messaging system that allows teams to communicate quickly and efficiently. These two tools were essential to completing my projects at my previous job.”

14. We want all of our employees to be innovative thinkers. Can you give an example of something creative you did at your last job?

This question is an opportunity to show the interviewer that you are a creative person and can think outside of the box. You can answer this question by giving an example of something you did at your last job that was innovative or unique.

Example: “At my previous job, I noticed that our clients were having trouble finding office space in certain areas of town because there wasn’t enough information online about available spaces. So, I created a website where companies could list their available office spaces for free. This website became so popular that it’s now used as a directory for all types of businesses.”

15. What are some of the most common problems you see with office buildings?

This question is an opportunity to show your knowledge of the industry and how you can solve problems. When answering, it’s important to be honest about what you’ve seen in the past but also highlight your ability to find solutions.

Example: “In my experience, one of the most common issues with office buildings is a lack of communication between departments. For example, I worked on a project where the IT department was having trouble installing new servers because they didn’t communicate that they needed more space for them. If they had talked to the facilities manager or even just asked their coworkers, they would have learned this information and been able to install the servers without any issues.”

16. How do you handle criticism from your coworkers?

This question can help the interviewer determine how you react to constructive criticism and whether you’re open to feedback. Use examples from your past experience of receiving feedback, implementing changes and working with others to solve problems.

Example: “In my last role as a leasing agent, I was tasked with finding new tenants for one of our properties. After several weeks of advertising, I hadn’t received any calls or emails about the property. My manager asked me why we weren’t getting more interest in the property. I explained that I had been using social media ads but wasn’t sure if they were reaching the right audience. She suggested I try different types of ads to see which ones would be most effective. We tried several different ad types and found that paid search ads were the best way to reach potential renters.”

17. What kind of experience do you have with budgeting for a project?

This question can help the interviewer understand your experience with financial management and how you plan for a project’s budget. Use examples from past projects to explain how you developed budgets, monitored spending and managed expenses.

Example: “In my last position as an interior designer, I was responsible for creating a budget for each client based on their needs and wants. I would meet with clients to discuss what they wanted in their space and then create a design that fit within their budget. I also had to manage my own time and resources while working on each project so I could stay within the budget I created.”

18. JLL has many different clients. Were you able to form relationships with your previous clients? How did you do this?

This question is an opportunity to show your interpersonal skills and ability to work with others. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention a specific client you worked with in the past and how you formed a relationship with them.

Example: “I have had the pleasure of working with many different clients throughout my career. I always try to get to know my clients as much as possible so that I can understand their needs and preferences. For example, one of my previous clients was a large corporation who wanted to lease office space for their employees. I asked questions about what they were looking for in terms of amenities and location. This helped me find a suitable building for them.”

19. Give us an example of how you managed risk during a project.

This question is a great way to show your ability to think critically and make decisions that benefit the company. When answering this question, it can be helpful to give an example of how you used data or information to help you make a decision.

Example: “When I was working on a project for a client who wanted to lease out their office space, I had to consider several factors when determining whether they should renew their lease or look for new options. One factor was the amount of money the company would save by moving to a different location. Another factor was the cost of renovations if we stayed in our current building. After looking at all of these factors, I determined that the best option for the company was to stay in its current building.”

20. Does working overtime bother you?

Employers ask this question to make sure you’re willing to work overtime when necessary. They want employees who are dedicated and hardworking, so they can get the job done without needing constant supervision. In your answer, explain that you understand working overtime is sometimes necessary. Explain that you would be willing to do it if needed but also mention that you’d prefer not to have to work overtime regularly.

Example: “I understand that sometimes we need to work overtime in order to meet deadlines or complete projects on time. I’m happy to work overtime when necessary, although I would prefer not to have to do it regularly. I think it’s important to maintain a healthy work-life balance, so I try to leave work at a reasonable hour most days.”
