Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. And the best way to do that is by using specific examples and numbers. So rather than saying you “taught kindergarteners,” you could say you “developed curriculum for 20 students in after-school program, resulting in 100% increase in literacy rates over one year.”

The second bullet point is much stronger because it provides specific details about what you did, the number of students involved, and the outcome of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume online, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. These programs look for specific terms related to the job opening in order to determine whether your skills and experience are a match. If you don’t have the right keywords on your resume, the ATS might discard your application.
