How to Write a Landscape Foreman Resume

Here’s how to write a landscape foreman resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

The best way to make your resume stand out is to use strong, specific language. Rather than saying you “managed landscaping crews,” you could say you “managed landscaping crews to install new irrigation systems, plant trees, and maintain existing gardens on 15 residential properties per week.”

The second bullet point is much more specific and provides more detail about what exactly you did and the results of your work. And that level of detail will make it much easier for a hiring manager to picture you in the role and understand how your experience and skills would be useful in the job.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a landscape foreman role, your resume is likely to be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. This software looks for specific terms related to the job, like “landscape design” or “irrigation systems” in order to determine whether your skills and experience are a match for the job opening. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right keywords, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.

To increase your chances of getting an interview, make sure to include keywords throughout all sections of your resume. Here are some of the most commonly used landscape foreman keywords:

  • Landscape Design
  • Landscaping
  • Construction
  • Drainage
  • Horticulture
  • Contractors
  • Concrete
  • Construction Management
  • Plant Health Care
  • Lawn Care
  • Irrigation
  • Nursery Management
  • Soil
  • Renovation
  • Arboriculture
  • Hard Landscaping
  • Horticulture Services
  • Soft Landscaping
  • Civil Engineering
  • Land Surveying
  • Land Development
  • Site Development
  • Subdivision
  • Stormwater Management
  • Water Management
  • Site Assessment
  • Environmental Compliance
  • Erosion Control
  • Drainage Design
  • Adobe Photoshop

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a landscape foreman, you are responsible for overseeing the landscape installation process from start to finish. This means that you need to be proficient in a variety of systems and programs that are used in the landscape industry. Some of the most common programs that landscape foremen use are design software like AutoCAD and SketchUp, construction management software like JobBoss and ProContractor, and irrigation design software like Rainsoft.
