How to Write a Legal Assistant Resume

Here’s how to write a legal assistant resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most important part of your resume because they’re the first thing recruiters will see. And they’re the best way to showcase your experience and qualifications.

But many candidates make the mistake of using generic bullet points that don’t really tell a story or provide any context about their experience.

Instead, you should use your bullet points to tell a story about your experience. And that story should be about how you helped your employer achieve specific results.

For example, rather than saying you “provided administrative support for attorneys,” you could say you “provided administrative support for 20+ attorneys, managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and drafting legal briefs, resulting in a 15% increase in billable hours for the department.”

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume online, it’s likely that it will be entered into an applicant tracking system (ATS). This system will scan your resume for certain keywords related to the position you’re applying for. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right terms, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.
