How to Write a Literacy Teacher Resume

Here’s how to write a literacy teacher resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. But rather than simply listing your responsibilities, you can make your bullet points much more interesting and compelling by using specific numbers and statistics.

For example, rather than saying you “taught students in grades 3-5 how to read and write,” you could say that you “taught third-grade students to read at a fifth-grade level in just six months.”

The second bullet point is much more interesting and compelling because it provides specific details about what you did and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a literacy teacher role, your resume is likely to be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. This system looks for certain terms related to literacy, like “reading” and “writing,” in order to determine whether your skills are a match for the job. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right terms, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.
