Employers ask this question to make sure you understand the importance of keeping patient information confidential. In your answer, explain that you know what HIPAA requires and why it’s important to follow these rules. Share an example of how you would ensure compliance with HIPAA in your role as a medical data analyst.

Example: “I am very familiar with HIPAA regulations because I have worked in healthcare for several years. I know that there are severe consequences if we violate HIPAA by sharing protected health information without consent or authorization. To avoid any issues, I always triple-check my work before sending it to managers. This helps me ensure that all patient information is kept private.”

Do you have experience working with large data sets?
