Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. And when it comes to medical librarians, the more specific and detailed you can be, the better.

For example, rather than saying you “managed library resources,” you could say you “managed library resources to maintain a collection of more than 15,000 items, including books, journals, and electronic resources, and maintained a collection that was compliant with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.”

The second bullet point is much more specific and provides more detail about what exactly you did and the results of your work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you apply for a medical library assistant role, your resume is likely to be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. This software looks for specific terms related to the job, like “medical records” or “health information management” in order to determine whether your skills are a match for the position.
