3. Have you held a position where you were involved with the hiring and termination of staff before? How did that go?

Hiring and terminating staff is a responsibility that comes with some managerial positions. Employers ask this question to make sure you have experience in these processes, as well as how they went. Use your answer to explain what steps you took when hiring or firing someone.

Example: “I’ve never been involved in the hiring or termination of staff before. However, I do understand the importance of both processes. When hiring new employees, I would want to ensure they are a good fit for the company culture. I would also want to know if they can perform their job duties effectively. For terminations, I would first try to resolve the issue between the employee and employer. If it was something that couldn’t be resolved, I would give them plenty of time to find another position.”

4. What is your experience working in logistics?

This question can help the interviewer understand your experience level and how it relates to the position you’re interviewing for. If you have previous experience working in logistics, share what your job duties were and how they helped prepare you for this role.

Example: “I worked as a supply chain manager at my last company where I was responsible for managing all aspects of our shipping operations. Example: “I once had a customer who was upset because they didn’t receive their shipment on time. I listened to what they were saying and asked questions to understand why they were so frustrated. After learning more about the situation, I realized that there was nothing I could do to change the past but I could help them in the future by offering free shipping for one month as an apology.”

7. Where would you like to be in five years?

This question is a great way to learn about your potential employee’s career goals. It also helps you determine if they are looking for long-term employment with your company or just a stepping stone in their career. When answering this question, be honest and specific about what you hope to achieve in the next five years.

Example: “I would love to have achieved my Certified Professional Logistician certification by then. I am currently studying for it, but I know that it will take me at least two more years of study before I can take the exam. In five years, I would like to be working as an operations manager here at NFI Industries.”

8. Do you have any management training or certifications?

11. How would you handle a situation where a truck driver called out sick last minute but you had a shipment scheduled to leave later today?

13. Do you have experience operating forklifts?

If you don’t have any experience operating forklifts, consider taking a forklift training course before your interview.

In fact, I recently took an online forklift certification course because I wanted to make sure I had all of the required knowledge and skills.”

14. Can you describe your approach to planning and scheduling shipments?

This question can help the interviewer understand your experience with planning and scheduling shipments, which is an important part of working in supply chain management. Use examples from previous work to highlight your ability to plan and schedule shipments effectively.

Example: “I use a software program that helps me create shipping plans for each client based on their needs. I start by identifying the most efficient routes for each shipment and then calculate the cost per unit for each route. 15. What software programs are you familiar with?
